substance abuse
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is a complex condition in which the recurrent use of alcohol or drugs causes significant impairment in daily life, health, and relationships.
Substance abuse and domestic abuse are deeply interconnected, with both issues often exacerbating one another. Substance abuse can increase the likelihood of someone becoming abusive, as drugs or alcohol impair judgment, and the ability to handle stress, making violent behavior more probable. On the other hand, victims of domestic abuse frequently turn to substances as a coping mechanism to deal with the trauma they endure.
This cycle of substance abuse and violence can be a difficult pattern to break without specialized treatment. Resources listed here are dedicated to providing compassionate, judgment-free care to those struggling with alcohol or drug dependency.
